What clients have to say about working with Kim…
“It was an absolute pleasure to work with Kim from prenatal through postpartum care. She made our two-mom family comfortable from the very beginning, and put us at ease every step of the way. In the hours leading up to the birth of our first child, she gave us greatly needed reassurance, sound advice, and invaluable information about our choices. We recommend Kim without hesitation.”

“My family loved having Kim as a part of our midwife team. She brings a sense of quiet confidence, calmness, and steadfastness into all situations. And as a perk, she’s REALLY good with needles. I know that may sound like a weird thing to appreciate, but after having 3 other home births, I can honestly say that I appreciate confidence when drawing blood. And she has it!
She is an active listener and was really in tune with our needs and anxieties. She asked great questions and helped us discuss all angles and points of view, even though it was my 4th baby.
I highly recommend Kim as a midwife—we had such a wonderful experience and wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“We had the great fortune of meeting Kim when she was a student midwife working at the birth center where we ultimately gave birth to our first child. Kim was our favorite midwife in the practice by far; her calm, down-to-earth, friendly demeanor immediately set both me and my partner at ease, and it was a pleasure to go through all of those prepartum visits knowing that we'd get to see Kim.
When I went into labor my blood pressure was a bit higher than usual, and the lead midwife tried to persuade my partner and me to transfer to a hospital for the birth. I was furious and scared, and determined to give birth the way I wanted—which meant having to advocate strongly for myself during labor, which was something I had tried to avoid by choosing midwifery!
But one bright spot was that Kim was a steady presence throughout this process, even going so far as to go with my partner and me to the hospital for a non-stress test to prove that I did not have pre-eclampsia and was safe to deliver my baby at the birth center.
I cannot tell you how grateful we were to have Kim by our side through this stressful process. At my birth, Kim was the force that held me together and kept me grounded through some scary moments—the baby's heart rate kept fluctuating, the lead midwife continued to push us to go to the hospital, and the whole thing was so incredibly physically painful—but through it all, Kim stayed present, and encouraging, and calm.
Ultimately, I gave birth to a healthy baby in the setting that I wanted—and Kim was by my side through it all. There is no higher praise that I can give than to say that when I absolutely needed help the most, Kim was there. And then she continued to be in our lives, doing a postpartum home visit and then staying in touch and following our baby's (and family's) growth for years to come.
I unequivocally, wholeheartedly recommend Kim to anyone seeking grounded, kind, excellent support. We just think she's the best!”

“When pregnant with our son, I decided to opt out of a planned hospital birth and instead to birth at Pacifica Family Maternity Center (in Berkeley, Calif.). This is where my wife and I met Kim. At the time, she was a student midwife, and was in the room during our son's birth and in charge of helping him once born.
It was during the postpartum home visits and during the postpartum birth center visits that we really got to know one another. She was knowledgeable, supportive, understanding, and non-judgmental. For obvious reasons, it was really important to my wife and I to have care providers that were queer-friendly. Kim was nothing but amazing on this front.
When my wife got pregnant with our daughter and opted for a hospital birth, we knew we wanted to work with a doula to help us navigate her pregnancy, the hospital, and postpartum care. Kim was the first person we called. Throughout my wife's pregnancy, she guided us to resources, helped us create a birth plan, and made sure we were well-informed about how a hospital birth would differ from a birth center birth.
During labor at the hospital, she was the primary care provider (the nurses left us largely alone until it was time for my wife to start pushing), and then helped us navigate the various questions and decisions that come up during the birthing process, and our OB's assertions about what "should" occur. Having her help us navigate this latter part, in particular, was really important, and she did so professionally and unquestioningly with the best interests of both our daughter and my wife in mind.
Her postpartum care, again, was of an incredibly high quality. We looked forward to her visits and used them as a time to ask questions about our newborn as well as a time to reflect on and process the birthing experience itself. She also helped us navigate our many feelings/struggles/joys of having a newborn and a toddler at home with both practical strategies and empathy. She made herself readily available via text message and phone for any questions that arose. We appreciated her sliding scale pricing for the opportunity it provides to more families to access midwifery services.
Since the birth of our daughter (and before she moved to the East Coast), I had the good fortune to run into Kim at a local coffee shop on a couple of occasions. When we did see each other, she enthusiastically asked to see pictures of both kids and answered specific questions about the postpartum recovery process (she is incredibly knowledgeable about natural herbs and remedies as well as over-the-counter options).
If it is not already evident, I cannot recommend Kim highly enough and will be eternally grateful for her care during the births of both of our children.”
